Foam Rolling is considered a self-myofascial release (SMR) technique, using a foam tube to alleviate muscle tightness, soreness, and inflammation. It can also help improve your range of motion.
What are the benefits?
Ease muscle pain and soreness
Reduce muscle inflammation
Increase range of motion
Increase blood flow to muscles
Aid in muscle recovery
Foam Rolling Examples:
Hamstring: Sit with your right leg on the foam roller, opposite leg bent with hands flat on the floor behind you. Roll up and down from your knee to under your butt cheek.
Calf: Sit on the floor with the roller under your lower leg on one side and your hands behind you. Roll slowly moving your toes in and out as the roller naturally works its way up your leg towards your knee.
